Quick Review- J. Crew Hacking Jacket

When J. Crew fall arrivals became available, I couldn't be happier about the wonderful selection of blazers. The Hacking jacket was definitely one that was tops of my list for the color selection and a chic and timeless shape.

I was biting my nails trying to figure out which one to pick and finally decided on this one:

And the winner is midnight ocean!!! And it finally came in the mail.

After getting measurements with an online specialist, I decided to order my regular size. It fits great. It doesn't feel tight in the shoulders, I can button it up with no issue, I did an arm raise test and it passed. This jacket gets a thumbs up in fit and in the gorgeous shade of blue. It also has cute leather buttons. Compared to the wool of the Schoolboy blazer (which I found to be really thin), this feels like a real wool blazer (it has a nice mid-weight, substantial feel to it). The only issue I had was the fact that the sleeves felt itchy which I found weird considering that the sleeves are lined. If you have sensitive skin this might be a nuisance, but it's not enough to take this baby back. I love my new blazer and wish I could get it in all the other colors!!

P.S. The color looks slightly pale blue in my pictures, but the real color is somewhere in between the lightness of my pictures and the darker hue of the stock photo.

Are you a fan of the Hacking jacket??

  1. This is going to be a weird question, but do you find the color truer to the product shot or is it more like the color in your photos? I haven't seen the hacking in blue IRL yet, but I am >this< close to just ordering it online - and I wants the blue as well!

  2. Hmm, I think the last pic with the close-up of the buttons is the truest representation of the color. It's not a baby blue, but also not as saturated as the stock photo suggests. I hope that helps!!

  4. One question (posted too soon): Is it very warm? That is my hesitation about ordering it--that it's more outerwear than fit for the temperature in an office.

  5. Thanks much! Yes it does. I must admit, I am kind of disappointed - I was looking for something as deeply saturated as in the product shot. I still might bite on it though, because you look so fantastic it in, and I have an old Jcrew hacking jacket from seasons past that I love.

  10. I don't think this would be too warm, especially with the cooler temps. This definitely wouldn't qualify as outerwear though.

  13. Oh my goodness...I'm in blazer lust. Great blazer, color and look on you! I'm totally craving the bright orange schoolboy blazer in velvet. Mainly for the orange color...

  14. What size are you wearing in this particular jacket? I vary so much in size depending on the style. I have size 4 to size 8 and I'm afraid of being stuck, since it's now a final sale item. Thanks!

  15. I have this in a size 10 which is the size I normally wear. If you want to wear a sweater with it or to wear it buttoned up, I would say you should size up.

  16. Thanks for replying. It looks great on you. I'm a little concerned about it being scratchy since I keep seeing it in reviews. I suppose I could avoid direct skin contact but that doesn't always work.
