OOTD- On a Safari

I hope you guys have a fabulous weekend. I will be going on a safari this weekend. You see I already have the vest, my hat is waiting nearby, there's an SUV ready to go (nevermind that it isn't mine, minor details) and I have reading material ready. Now I just need a flight to maybe Kenya, some rugged boots and time off.
Actually, my weekend will more likely involve this:

My honey and I went to Ikea last Sunday, I spotted this little baby and he was wonderful enough to buy it for me. I've been thinking about getting a sewing machine for awhile, but with a lack of proper space and a fear of it sitting going unused, I put it off for another day. Not anymore!! So hopefully, I will be victorious in producing a skirt that is wearable by the time the weekend comes to an end. It might have some stitching that isn't exactly in a straight line, but if I can put it on and not be embarrassed by the results, I'll be a happy camper. :)

Do you  have any exciting weekend plans? Do you sew or think about sewing your own clothes?

OOTD- Working the Runway

Okay, I'm not working a real runway because I am not a model (I only pretend to be on this here blog ), but I am rocking Rent the Runway. You've guys heard of them right? Have an event you need to go to, but don't want to fork over the money for a really nice dress, well you can just rent one from Rent the Runway. I've used them twice before and had great experiences so I was pleasantly surprised when they offered to send me a free rental recently. Free and a nice dress to wear, no need to twist my arm. So armed with this lovely Shoshanna dress I was ready to tackle the day while feeling sassy and pretty. And thinking that I need more dresses in my closet. A girl should always feel that good. The best part is I don't have to spend a ton of money with RTR just a click away.

Have you used RTR before? Do you usually have something in your closet ready for a fun occasion or are you one to usually run out and buy something new?

This post was not sponsored by RTR. They just sent me a complimentary dress to wear and I love them enough to share.

OOTD- Urban Cowgirl

Although it is casual Friday, I was more in the mood for a skirt today. Not just any skirt, but one of my problem skirts. Plaid is one chambray shirt away from being a little too cowgirl, so to make this outfit a bit more city, I thought my new super bright sweater could do the trick. I've been all things color lately and when I spotted this sweater for a sweet price, the balance on my Xmas gift card was just a little bit less than before. How could I not want to walk around like a spot of sunshine!? I'm telling you that color is a mood booster whether you go big with it or add just a touch like in a belt.

You guys have a great weekend! I'll be figuring out what color to sport in my hair soon because it is time for a little change. Oh, and I have to pencil in a Target run for the new Jason Wu designer line. Let's pray for no store ( or website) madness like the last one.

Are you going to check out the new Jason Wu for Target line?

OOTD-Color, Color, Spots

What an eventful yesterday!!! My very first earthquake and I was confused and scared as to why the building was shaking while I was at my desk. Good thing it was just a rattle!! I was just about to curl up underneath my desk.

After a slow crawl, I made my way home in one piece as you can see and I had to take pictures of this outfit. Priorities, right? I called to make sure everyone was okay first. I find this polka dot cardigan a bit difficult to style because it usually ends up looking cutesy. But sometimes you have to work with it and I like how all of the colors and components were harmonious.
Did you ever create an outfit that you were really happy about the outcome?

Polka dot cardigan and yellow tee- J. Crew (similar cardigan here)
Purple midi skirt and brown belt- thrifted (similar skirt here and here)
