OOTD- All In the Family

I don't know if I should admit this, but I read Teen Vogue despite being out of my teens for about (oh, let's not calculate the real amount) what feels like a million years ago. But I can rarely afford what's in the grown-up version of Vogue, so the teen version offers some things that are a bit more attainable (sometimes) to my paycheck. There was an editorial in it months ago that I still remember to this day and tore out as inspiration of a model wearing an outfit with all shades of purple. Although, I'm not the matchy-matchy type, I got dressed with shades of purple and pink in my mind and created an outfit that I really like. Now, I'm not ready for shoes, bag and make-up to match, but baby steps are sometimes necessary when trying out something new. Hey, I took a step further...my toenails are pink!!!

Do you still read teen magazines as a bona fide adult? Oh, and since I'm confessing, I still flip through Seventeen magazine too.

OOTD- Pencil Me In, Just Because

I've decided to sanction this pencil skirt week. Why do you ask? Why not!!?? Whenever I open my closet, my eyes are assaulted by all of the skirts that I have and don't wear enough. So, in favor of the flouncy skirts that I'm enamored with these days, I'm going full-force with the pencil skirt. Even better that Refinery 29 decided to showcase how to rock a pencil skirt on their blog today. I am all set to give them a run for their money, so let's get started with Monday's look:

I went all out with color today, check back to see something different tomorrow!!

What's your favorite type of skirt? Pencil, full, maxi, mini, pleated??

OOTD- Bright Spots

This outfit has been months in the making. I was flipping through magazines or looking at blogs when the idea for this outfit came to mind. But then the weather became way too hot for fabric with the content of wool and so it was put on hold. Don't you hate when the weather doesn't want to cooperate with your sartorial wishes? Since we are in the midst of an Indian summer, I figured I should break out the cream shoes before they go on temporary hiatus. They certainly enjoyed their last hurrah and gracefully tagged in the thicker fabrics. This is just the beginning, I have some orange wool pants waiting for its turn. Oh, I can't wait!!

Outfit Details:
Leopard top and shield necklace- Forever 21 (similar top here, similar here in plus size, tee in lighter version here)
"Bright Dahlia" pencil skirt and belt- J.Crew (same color, different shape available here, same color in pants here)
Cream pointy-toe kitten heels- (thrifted) L' Autre Chose
Black handbag- Foley + Corinna (similar here)

OOTD- Can I Borrow That, Diane?

Today's post is brought to you by Diane. Diane Kruger, that is. She of the fabulous style, Chanel connections and a boyfriend that I spent my teen years watching on tv. I was completely enamored with an outfit of hers that I saw quite some time ago:

It was absolutely perfect to me with the fun, colorful tweed, the bright sweater, and that adorable hat. I mean, seriously, it's fantastic! I bought my sweater over the summer and I was beyond thrilled to spot a tweed skirt at the outlet that was perfectly priced and practically a twin to hers. And then the weather got way too hot to wear anything sweater related, so my plan to imitate her got put to the wayside. With my new bag arriving this week and the hint of fall in the air, I joyfully decided to put this outfit on yesterday. I mean, can you blame me after waiting over 2 months? Now if you don't mind, I'm going to see what other outfits I can "borrow" from her. ;)

Was there ever a celebrity outfit that you absolutely loved and wanted to create? Tell me who and what outfit!!
