OOTD- Busting Out of the Box

It's all about the small victories sometimes. I actually put on an outfit today! After living out of boxes and wearing pretty much the same thing on repeat, I'm slowly coming back to the world of fashion (creating an actual outfit and putting on jewelry) and blogging, both of which I've missed. Gotta get my mojo back. I think a scroll through Pinterest might be in order. Pics of Olivia Palermo usually does the trick for inspiration. Besides that is much safer than heading out to the mall...which is now up the street from my new place. Such bad temptation, so close. I need someone to take the credit cards away, quick!

What's one thing you like to do when you're feel in need of inspiration?

OOTD- A Good Thing

It's Monday, which usually doesn't get as much love as say Friday, but I think it's going to be a good day anyway. This morning I had my very first butt-crack of morning boot camp class. I might be crazy for signing up for it and I'm already feeling out of shape and slightly sore, but it was a great way to start off the day. Plus, that hour we lost yesterday means that it won't be dark when I get off from work and it's that signal that spring is just around the corner. That gets a big yay from me since it means I can start to ignore those tights in my drawers. And finally, this post features my favorite shoes ever and a new bargain sweater that just might take top prize out of some of my new purchases. Color, pattern and texture, it's a trifecta of outfit goodness. $25 and two outings so far, it is well on the way to being worth pennies in the cost per wear calculation. Winning!

Happy Monday!!!

OOTD-The Case of the Meltdown

Before I begin today's post, I just want to say thank you to all of my wonderful readers who left congrats in the previous post. It truly warmed my heart and put a smile on my face.
Yes, he put a ring on it!!!

We're just going to ignore those pesky straps. This is real-life picture action here!

Time for Angry Birds!!

I have a propensity for wearing this striped top with a pink skirt (see here). I can't help it, I love the combination!! The weather guy said that it would be close to 100 degrees today and all I thought of was flowy and light. This little swingy skirt definitely fit the bill, but it didn't keep me from melting into a slight puddle of sweat while taking these pictures this evening. I'm thinking tomorrow calls for wearing a bikini to work. Do you think I'll get a pass for inappropriate workwear? If I am sent home, I can just go across the street to the high-rise with the rooftop pool. Can you believe I get teased with that kind of view everyday in the summer?? It's almost enough to make me cry.

Do you have a strategy for getting dressed in the hotness or do you start to not care as much when the temperatures are unbearable?

OOTD- Peacock Strut

Pretend that this skirt was wrinkle-free!!

With a bright, sunny week ahead, I decided to stave off a case of the Mondays with some color. I think it worked because I had a skip in my step and had no urges to go at a bat with my computer or come up with schemes to take money from the company. No Office Space moments for me!!

Do you have things in your wardrobe that make you feel happier?

Flower cardigan- Marc by Marc Jacobs
Purple tee and blue pencil skirt- J. Crew (skirt available here)

OOTD-Perfectly Patent Red

Happy Valentine's Day to my feet!!! Last weekend the bf and I took a little side trip to the thrift store. We had hopes that going to one of the far out, nicer areas would produce a load of fancy, designer goods at a steal. Yeah, no such luck. He made out like a bandit in button-downs and I found nothing but these lovely red pumps sitting in a bin, looking completely unworn, in my size. The bf was nice enough to gift me an early Valentine's gift (or maybe I had a puppy dog face on). Don't they add just the perfect pop?

What's your favorite way to add some extra oomph, pow or pop to an outfit?

Outfit Details:

Grey skinny ankle jeans- J Brand

OOTD- Playing Pretend, A Day On the Beach

Sometimes the best laid plans can go not quite as you expect. Don't you hate when that happens? The plan was to head to the airport, book a ticket on the next plane leaving for a tropical island with warm weather and swaying palm trees, then hop on and get out of town. Since the money fairy forgot to deposit the money in my wallet, it didn't quite work out, so I did the next best thing. The bf and I headed out to lunch at a sushi place in the city that was recently voted best of by a local paper, but when we got there they were closed for some kind of event. Since we didn't want to wait about 2 hrs until we could get in, we headed to a local hole in the wall restaurant with some yummy fried fish and sides. I couldn't complain with a great meal in hand and the chance to pose in front of this little gem of a mural on the side of a building. I got to play pretend just for a second and imagine that those palm trees were for real.

This outfit was just a random assortment of items that I threw on because I only cared about wearing my new shoes. I scored these wedges during a recent sale from ASOS; I love me a good wedge shoe. If it makes me feel like a super tall amazon and lets me walk in comfort, then I am all for it. One other fun new addition is my humongous a** ring from F21. I got this in the mail last week and my first thought was, perhaps I should start reading the measurements on the jewelry items. Have you ever ordered something and was completely shocked at how it look when you got it?

Outfit of the Day- Button to the Top

I have to keep this post nice and short as I'm knee-deep in packing. Although I am 80% done, there are still lots of little things to remember. Who wants to be hundreds of miles away from home and realize that they forgot underwear, the curling iron, or their Visa? Not that I have done any of those things, but I want to make sure that it definitely doesn't happen before my brain is done for the evening.

This dress is one of my rarely worn pieces, but for some reason I can't get rid of it. I feel like such a traitor if I dare think to part with something from one of my favorite designers, Marc Jacobs. I thought it would be the perfect companion to these shoes (which suck by the way, just say no to strappy shoes that cut into your foot) and my new purse! As much as I would love the highly coveted Mulberry Alexa, my Forever 21 version will have to do until $1000 magically appears in my wallet. Does anyone know the whereabouts of the magical purse fairy?

P.S. Please excuse the fact that I am a wrinkle monster. This was after a very long day filled with lots of sitting.

Grey dress- Marc Jacobs
Pink heels- Seychelles
Blue turnlock bag- Forever 21

Outfit of the Day-Marc Jacobs Made Me A Whore

A handbag whore that is, what kind of girl do you think I am? Ever since I got a whiff and feel of this sumptuous leather handbag many years ago, I can't resist a nice designer bag. It was my very first "I'm making my own money, let me buy a fabulous bag", major purchase. Marc Jacobs got me addicted and I can't turn back. It's nice to be bad every now and then.

That's all to say that my casual Friday look was a bit of a snooze, but got increased in style points with one of my favorite bags.
