OOTD- Over and Under

We are only a few weeks into the new year and I'm well on my way with tackling my fashion resolutions of getting in more prints. This sweater must have known what it takes to get me interested, pretty colors and cozy softness; I headed right to the register and felt determined to make it work in my wardrobe. But you see, the problem is that this is the only tunic length top that I have and I know the "ideal" pairing with a tunic is leggings and my poor selection of leggings are delegated as loungewear. And so I decided to just go on and add even more color with one of my favorite thrift finds to date, this lovely purple number. Ah, color just might help me make it through this winter after all....let's hope I'm feeling this way once the end of February hits and I'm jonesing for spring to get here.

Are you making it okay through the winter already, or do you want spring to get here soon? And seriously, is all of these resort wear collections in the store making anyone else sad to not be on a tropical getaway right about now?

OOTD- The Girl I Used to Be

This past weekend's weather tried to put a damper on hanging outside, so the bf and I headed to the refuge of the mall. We (mainly me) made out like bandits at H&M,  scarfed down some hot wings after a serious week-long craving and enjoyed some movie time watching Bridesmaids (surprisingly funny although it's not the kind of movie I rush to see). I made the day even better by wearing my new earrings and this beautiful colored skirt that I scored the last time I went thrifting. I couldn't believe my luck since it is perfectly on trend.

Has anyone else gone through different clothing and/or jewelry phases? When I was younger I wore all kinds of hoops and dangly earrings, but the past few years it's been nothing but small studs. I don't know if this recent earring purchase is a manifestation of my current love of all things boho or a return to my former self. One things for sure, style is a constant evolution.

OOTD-Moving in Stripes

Goofy face time!

Check out the skills!

Hey, I've been teleported to London!

Our office is moving and it has been a whirlwind of packing frenzy this past week. We were given the okay to wear jeans, but as you can see my outfit is just a tad bit more fancy than some of the sweatshirts and denim that's been walking around the halls. A bit overdress for the occasion maybe, but this ensemble was created while lying in bed trying to figure out an outfit that would get me to work early. Guess what!!?? Success!! I got to work about 45 minutes earlier and had time for Starbucks. Today, it was back to lateness, but we'll just blame it on the rain (and Milli Vanilli).

Have a fabu weekend!!!

OOTD-Perfectly Patent Red

Happy Valentine's Day to my feet!!! Last weekend the bf and I took a little side trip to the thrift store. We had hopes that going to one of the far out, nicer areas would produce a load of fancy, designer goods at a steal. Yeah, no such luck. He made out like a bandit in button-downs and I found nothing but these lovely red pumps sitting in a bin, looking completely unworn, in my size. The bf was nice enough to gift me an early Valentine's gift (or maybe I had a puppy dog face on). Don't they add just the perfect pop?

What's your favorite way to add some extra oomph, pow or pop to an outfit?

OOTD- I've Got the Vibrant Thing

Have you ever set an item of clothing aside for some kind of repair (broken zipper, hemming, sewing on a button)? How long did it sit in the pile? I absolutely love these tweed pants, but the hem came loose on one of the legs. I've had them hanging in my closet for at least a year before I finally got them fixed. How ridiculous is that? I'm sadden by the fact that I've been missing out on all of this tweedy goodness. At least they made a timely debut and all with the wide-leg trend back on the scene.

Are you a big fan of the wide-leg pants? I love the look of crisp white, long pants with a white blouse. It just conjures up an image of yachting or vacationing on some beach resort town. So fresh, so clean. However, I have my hesitations. Once when I was about 8 or 9, I went to an outdoor event with my mother in some really wide, flowy pants. A bee decided to take that as an invitation and flew up my pants leg and stung me. I was truly traumatized that day and now hate bees and prefer skinnies. Thanks Mr. Bee!!!

OOTD-Crazy Pattern Lady

Wouldn't it be awesome to have a personal wind machine while taking pictures?

Have you ever encountered an Ebay swift swiper? You know, you bid on something no one else had, it would be absolutely perfect in your wardrobe, but you find yourself unable to be at the computer when the listing ends and somebody just snatches it right from up under you (at a crazy, ridiculously low price, I might add). Grrr!!! That happened to me with a black and white J. Crew tweed blazer. I had already envisioned this outfit for it, but since I am not the proud new owner of it, I had to improvise.

I've always admired people who can mix patterns so well. It's a scary concept to me and I haven't really tried it because I'm severely lacking in the pattern department. I got a strike of inspiration from a photo somewhere and decided to give this combo a go. I felt like I had so much going on, but not necessarily in a bad way. I think I'm even ready to whip up another pattern mixing outfit. But first I have to go swipe the perfect blazer from Ebay first. ;)

Have you dived into the deep end of the pattern mixing trend or are you still in the kiddie pool with me?

OOTD- Saturday Fun

Whee!!

I'm not sure what this face is about

My poor excuse for a Karate Kid pose

Detail shot of my new necklace

I was all set to do an outfit post yesterday when I discovered that my memory card made 200+ pictures go to Disappear Land. You know, the place where random socks, that one earring and a pair of shoes that you can never find like to visit and never return. I curse you stupid memory card because that was a cute outfit!!!

Today's outfit was relatively simple and casual, all the better to showcase my fancy new necklace and have some fun on the playground. I definitely enjoyed myself, but was reminded of how out of shape I am compared to my younger self. One of these days, I'll make it across the monkey bars again!

Have an awesome, feel like a kid again weekend.

OOTD-Cashmere Covered Dots

Raise your hand if you're a bargain shopper!!! I know I am, which is why I sometimes end up in the thrift store searching for hidden gems among the racks. Never have I found a vintage Chanel hiding behind old Anne Klein purses, but a girl can hope and dream.
About a month ago I found myself in my local thrift store looking for a new blazer, specifically something in the on-trend camel colored family. As is the case when you want something specific, you find everything but. That's how I ended up with this black blazer. It was simple, could go perfectly with so many things, and best of all 100% cashmere. I wanted to do a happy dance when I looked at the fabric content and saw that, plus it fit me!!! Even better that it barely put a hurtin' on my wallet because I paid about $2.50 for it. It kept me warm, looking polished and went nicely with my most recent bargain skirt from the outlet ($25). I say it was money well spent.
Are you a thrift store shopper?  Have you done the happy dance recently after a great find?

My arms are just crossed, I am not giving you an obscene gesture. ;)

I heard a strange noise behind me. I think it was a ghost!

Outfit of the Day- Seeking a Cheap Dress for Good Times

Today we got a reprieve from the heat and humidity. I was actually able to enjoy lunch outside with a co-worker and not burst into flames like Bill the Vampire did when trying to save Sookie in the end of the first season of True Blood. Also, yum, to cheap buffalo wings.

I found the dress I'm wearing at a thrift store not too long ago. Despite the fact that it looks like something I could have caught my mother wearing in the 80s, I saw some potential for cuteness. I love the color (one of my favorites) and had it shortened a bit, although I think I can probably take a few more inches off again. I hiked up the sleeves, slapped on one of my favorite belts, opened up a few buttons, added some jewelry and headed out the door. That doesn't mean I was on time for work because I still had to figure out a shoe and handbag selection, but that doesn't detract from the easiness of this dress. Plus it has one thing I couldn't resists..
