OOTD-Tiers of Colors

Once upon a time, I fell in love with a dress that had pretty colors and a flowy hemline, but that evil price tag said we would never be friends:

I even tried it on as a possible birthday splurge, but it just wasn't true love when I saw it on my body.

But I couldn't get those tiers of colors out of my mind, so imagine my delight at finding an cute alternative at a fraction of the price:

I'll take it!! Have you ever lusted after something you saw online, but when you got up close and personal with it, discovered that some of the love instantly faded away. Sadly, that was the case with this dress and I was all set to love it because Diane von Furstenburg knows how to make a pretty dress with some wonderful color. Oh well, there will always be other dresses and this new number will keep me plenty happy this season.

What is one thing that you lusted over but never bought either because of price, not fitting your lifestyle or you waited too long to buy and it disappeared?
For me it was the Louis Vuitton Mini Lin. I loved the print and size of the bag, but when I rented it from Bag Borrow or Steal, I just knew it wasn't going to work. It was a black hole that made everything I put into it disappear and there were no side pockets which is a slight deal breaker for me when it comes to handbags.

OOTD- Part of the Tribe

I'm a little sad the weekend is over because my honey and I took a little road trip to a bed & breakfast and it was such a nice moment of decompression from the hustle and bustle of the workweek. A leisurely bike ride in the afternoon that had me feeling care-free, a seafood dinner of crab and shrimp complete with hush puppies and $4 alcoholic drinks and a huge king-size bed that felt like sleeping on an island. Just what the doctor ordered.
In my previous post, I  mentioned how I'm all about the printed jeans these days. Well, my first pair arrived in the mail last week and made their debut this weekend. These tribal print jeans from ASOS are definitely something different and I think I like it. A little funky, but not too outrageous. I'm already plotting my next denim purchase.
What do you guys think of my necklace??? So, I saw this neon necklace in a magazine and I couldn't find it anywhere (that's what happens when I get a little ahead of the store's shipments), but it got me thinking that I could probably make it myself. After scoping some DIYs on a few blogs and finding a suitable necklace to mess up if necessary, I grabbed a bottle of polish and created this bright little sparkly number around my neck. I'm so excited because I found more necklaces this weekend to give it another go. Yes to extra money in my pocket and a custom necklace!!

Have you ever attempted a clothing or accessory DIY? Was it a success or not?

OOTD- Over and Under

We are only a few weeks into the new year and I'm well on my way with tackling my fashion resolutions of getting in more prints. This sweater must have known what it takes to get me interested, pretty colors and cozy softness; I headed right to the register and felt determined to make it work in my wardrobe. But you see, the problem is that this is the only tunic length top that I have and I know the "ideal" pairing with a tunic is leggings and my poor selection of leggings are delegated as loungewear. And so I decided to just go on and add even more color with one of my favorite thrift finds to date, this lovely purple number. Ah, color just might help me make it through this winter after all....let's hope I'm feeling this way once the end of February hits and I'm jonesing for spring to get here.

Are you making it okay through the winter already, or do you want spring to get here soon? And seriously, is all of these resort wear collections in the store making anyone else sad to not be on a tropical getaway right about now?

OOTD- Mini, Maxi, Midi

My skirt lengths sure have run the gamut this week. For a slinky mini, to this slight midi length number, to a little something you'll have to wait until tomorrow for. Oh, the suspense!

When I spotted this skirt at the thrift store, I couldn't believe my luck. It was perfectly on trend in both shape and color. Plus, it got extra bonus points for two little pockets. I thought the muted tones of gray and taupe in the blazer lent themselves perfectly with such a vibrant shade. And I would like to admit that I have a fashion phobia of pairing gray with brown tones, yet I did it here in this outfit. I'm not sure what to think about this bold step for me.

Are there any color pairings that you stay away from with your clothing or is it a fashion free for all when it comes to mixing and matching?

OOTD- Let's All Cheer

I'm cheering for Friday in that first picture, won't you join me!!! I have delusions that I could have been a cheerleader despite the fact that I can't do a split and my cartwheel is a little bit sad (okay, tremendously sad).

I've had this blazer in my closet for some time now and this is my first time wearing it, despite the fact that I love it and even came up with a ton of outfits for it. I can't help but wonder the reason behind that weird fashion behavior. Anyway, this linen blazer paired with the thinnest of tanks was a fantastic way of keeping "cool" in this heat wave here, but now I wonder what else can I do to stay melt-free? What if I don't want to wear a dress? What if I miss wearing my jeans? Do I dare test the office dress code by putting on my bermuda shorts? I can't be one of those gals you see come to the office looking totally inappropriate (dress with the back all out and the wrong bra, loud flip-flops, borderline too short skirts/dresses that are just barely ending underneath the butt; you know who I'm talking about!!).

What are your tips for being appropriate, both for the office and the scorching heat??
