OOTD- A Part of the Tribe

Layers, how I've missed you!! This is one of the reasons why I love Fall so much, no need for a jacket/coat, just some nicely thought out pieces to layer and you're good to go. I couldn't resist getting this dress when it popped up for sale at StyleMint. The print was totally my style and I just loved the colors (darks with a pop of color). Surely, it could stand on its own, but I was itching to mix things up a bit and added a touch more pattern and relished in the fact that the weather was perfect and wore boots sans tights.

I hope you guys had a great weekend! Between getting a teapot and having a cup of tea outside for breakfast, scoring a few goodies at Target and Last Call Neiman Marcus and watching (some of) the game with my guy and having him explain what a punt is while I totally didn't get it, I could say there were some enjoyable moments. Sometimes, it's the simple things.

What fun things did you get into this weekend?

OOTD-Peel Back the Layers

Layers, upon layers, upon layers. That's how I was forced to dress this weekend when the weather took a nose-dive right into downright freezing cold temps. Fall has been wished for by many, including moi, so I'm not going to complain...too much. That story will surely change when my outfits have to center around a coat.

Part of my weekend featured some kid time at a local festival. Although the super cold chill in the air and rain tried to put a damper on the day's festivities, a good time was had by all. How could I not have a good day when funnel cake is involved?

OOTD- Let's All Cheer

I'm cheering for Friday in that first picture, won't you join me!!! I have delusions that I could have been a cheerleader despite the fact that I can't do a split and my cartwheel is a little bit sad (okay, tremendously sad).

I've had this blazer in my closet for some time now and this is my first time wearing it, despite the fact that I love it and even came up with a ton of outfits for it. I can't help but wonder the reason behind that weird fashion behavior. Anyway, this linen blazer paired with the thinnest of tanks was a fantastic way of keeping "cool" in this heat wave here, but now I wonder what else can I do to stay melt-free? What if I don't want to wear a dress? What if I miss wearing my jeans? Do I dare test the office dress code by putting on my bermuda shorts? I can't be one of those gals you see come to the office looking totally inappropriate (dress with the back all out and the wrong bra, loud flip-flops, borderline too short skirts/dresses that are just barely ending underneath the butt; you know who I'm talking about!!).

What are your tips for being appropriate, both for the office and the scorching heat??

OOTD- Pleated Shimmy

You guys remember how I traveled all the way up to NYC just to go to a sample sale?? Well, this cute little handbag I'm carrying is what I took home. Isn't she purty?? I've been showing this one lots of love, I think the other bags are feeling pangs of jealousy.

Lately, I've been feeling like my outfits have gotten a little boring, for lack of a better word. Although I have things that I love wearing, I always feel like some of my ensembles could use a little bit extra something that I'm not quite sure I can put my finger on. I'm a firm believer in the power of a good accessory to take an outfit up a notch or two; so that's what I attempted with this scarf. It certainly helped add some interest to this pleated number.

Can someone learn how to take an outfit from boring to just right or is pitch-perfect styling an innate ability?

OOTD- De Plane, De Plane!!

This long weekend was absolutely what the doctor ordered. Extra time was spent lounging, sleeping in late, indulging in lots of good food, watching bad sequels at the theater and enjoying the sun. Did you have some good old fashion fun??

On Saturday, I took the bf hostage and we heading to the park for some rest and relaxation. An added bonus was to watch the planes land at the airport. It made me so ready for a vacation.

Last year I had a total of one maxi dress in my closet (the one in this picture) and after a month, I now have four. One reason I was always so hesitant to buy one is that length can be a big issue. Super high heels or wedges were necessary to keep them from dragging on the ground, which can be such a hassle. I'm a gal who needs versatility. I discovered one fantastic way to enjoy them with flats and that is to give it a good knot. I can't believe it even took this long to figure out this trick, but I'm thrilled.

What clothing tricks have you discovered?
