OOTD- Bunhead

I've always admired the skill and beauty of a ballet dancer, partially because my body (especially my flexibility) would never allow me to achieve even an ounce of that much gracefulness. My second grade self did take ballet for a semester in school, yet the only things I've managed to retain are how to position my feet into first, second and third position. So to make up for all of the other lessons I lost over the years, I've managed to hang on to making a mean bun. And even better that it's perfect for the crazy hot summer weather. I'll be spending my summer working on making this the biggest most messiest most perfect bun ever and maybe even work on a second career in the NYC ballet. Okay, that last part probably won't happen, but a young girl can dream, right?

What did you want to be when you were in elementary school? Is it drastically different from what you do as an adult?

OOTD- A Change of Pace

I hope you all had a great weekend filled with Easter goodies, family/friend time and relaxation. My honey and I did some furniture comparison shopping, I tackled a bit of laundry, I finally got around to washing my hair (morning exercise leaves me looking a hot mess most days) and I proudly tackled making macaroni and cheese for the very first time. I was pretty happy with the end result although I'm not sure how to take the comment of it tasting like fancy mac n' cheese. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Most weekends involve me unconsciously reaching for a pair of jeans to throw on, but I've actually gotten a bit bored with my jean selection. I can't believe I'm even having such thoughts. Sweats are completely out of the question, so I decided a little leopard would spice up the day quite nicely. And an obnoxiously bright necklace was the perfect accent to all of the neutrals going on in this outfit. Seriously, why didn't anyone tell me that this necklace is set to blind everyone in sight?

What would you (or do you) wear to be comfortable that doesn't involve denim?

OOTD- Who Turned Out the Lights in the Westside?

Plaid shirts conjure up images of west coast gangster rappers of the olden days. Ice Cube sure loved to wear his with a baseball cap and a scowl and I remember when that was Snoop Dog's uniform. Why I have this association, I'm not quite sure, but let's just say plaid isn't big in my wardrobe. That kind of change when I spotted this top in a catalog. I think the pop of pink called to me, it said I'm not quite like all the other plaid shirts out there, I have a girly touch. So to keep this top from venturing anywhere near the masculine territory, I added a fun necklace and skirt. A pretty noble attempt at getting the plaid shirt to work for me. The tough part is figuring out the next outfit. How would you style this top in a cute way?

What do you think is the easiest way to feminize a masculine piece? Are you a fan of plaid shirts?
