Notes from the Dressing Room- Anthro Anticipation Heels

I had the chance to try on one of the pairs of shoes from Anthropologie that was taunting me and my credit card. The store only had a 7 and I usually fluctuate between a 6.5 and a 7. I put a pair on hold and headed out to the store after work.

As you can see, I need to size down because my tootsies are nowhere to be found. It was a great medium shade of gray, I loved the bow, they have such an interesting shape and best of all the heel was a comfortable height. I can imagine being able to walk and last pretty much all day in these shoes. For the time being, I left them in the store. It wasn't 100% love and that might have been because it wasn't the right size. I'm thinking I should check out the other pair I like and do a comparison.

Outfit of the Day- Seeking a Cheap Dress for Good Times

Today we got a reprieve from the heat and humidity. I was actually able to enjoy lunch outside with a co-worker and not burst into flames like Bill the Vampire did when trying to save Sookie in the end of the first season of True Blood. Also, yum, to cheap buffalo wings.

I found the dress I'm wearing at a thrift store not too long ago. Despite the fact that it looks like something I could have caught my mother wearing in the 80s, I saw some potential for cuteness. I love the color (one of my favorites) and had it shortened a bit, although I think I can probably take a few more inches off again. I hiked up the sleeves, slapped on one of my favorite belts, opened up a few buttons, added some jewelry and headed out the door. That doesn't mean I was on time for work because I still had to figure out a shoe and handbag selection, but that doesn't detract from the easiness of this dress. Plus it has one thing I couldn't resists..

Outfit of the Day- Tie It Up In A Bow

I had no creativity going this morning, but I knew I wanted to wear my new belt. I decided to throw on whatever would require no ironing, put on my belt, and head out the door. Done and done (but not without standing in front of the closet for a good five minutes in confusion about what could work). Sometimes its just one of those days.

Anthropologie, Why Are You Teasing Me!!!???

Yesterday, I received a new Anthropologie catalog and yet again they pulled me into desiring an item because of how lovely they make everything look on the model. Thanks to that catalog and Kim at Anthroholic, I am seriously contemplating a new shoe purchase. The problem is I should be saving up money for moving later this year. I mean shouldn't a rental truck, bed, and fancy flat-screen tv take precedence? This is one of those moments when being a big-girl, real deal adult is no fun, lol.

If I do decide to take the plunge on some shoes, which should I go for:

Anticipation Heels, $168

Waving Grains Pumps, $148

Or should I be a good, head on straight, no fun having adult and get neither?

Outfit of the Day- Stripes Up Stripes Down

So begins another work week, but we do have one thing to look forward to, a holiday weekend with its own soundtrack (ridiculously loud fireworks)and yummy food.

I'm not one for mixing patterns, but today I took a baby toe dip into the trend and wore stripes on the top and bottom. My pants have a very subtle white stripe running down, but from far away they can look like regular old blue pants. I didn't go too crazy with mixing because I wanted to let the focus remain on top. I found this cardigan at Walmart for $14! Now I usually can't stand going into Walmart. The store is always crowded, I wait in line for what seems like forever, and the clothing selection doesn't compare to say, Target (I love you Tar-jay!); but I'm an equal opportunity bargain shopper. I know deals are to be had around any and every corner. This soft little number should serve its purpose until it disintegrates in the wash. Let's hope it waits at least 6 months (fingers crossed).

Outfit of the Day- Locking It Up

I got out today to enjoy a little shopping and lunch with my honey (yum to lobster rolls). I took my new Forever 21 belt out for a spin and I love it, but let's just say it is very important to wear it when my belly isn't full. On the plus size, it has corset like properties and makes my waist look smaller (two points for that).

Looks just like candy

White tank- J Crew

Adding to the Rack- Animal Attraction

I made a few purchases this week and they all seem to follow the same theme...animals and reptiles! I swear it was an unintentional coincidence.

Crocodile Wrap Ring, Forever 21, purchase here

Although my new bag is supposed to be an alligator print, I thought this would go with it.

Zebra bracelet (similar)
My bracelet is from Forever 21, but no longer available

I stopped by a consignment shop on my lunch break this week and found a few things to try on.
I was thumbing through the skirts and even though this wasn't my size, I couldn't resist the print.
It is J Crew from Spring 2008 and I was able to score this for about $6 (after a bit of a store credit). I know it will put a smile on my face any time I wear it. :) I need to attempt a slight shrinkage in the wash, my only question is can I get away with it at work?

Outfit of the Day- Channeling Ms. Hepburn for the Shorties

At 5'4, I am considered average height for a woman, but when it comes to shopping for pants, I am squarely in the petite section. Most magazines tell petite women to stay away from capris since they definitely don't elongate the leg line, but I've always remained stubborn to this thought. I love the look of capris with a cute ballet flat, a la Audrey Hepburn. With that, I ignore the advice, throw on my cropped pants with a pair of flats and go along my merry way. Hey, there's not denying I'm short, I embrace that fact today and walk out into the world looking like the shortie that I am. Sometimes it's just not a day for some heels.

I stopped watching America's Next Top Model awhile ago, apparently I need to work on my broke down model pose.

Outfit Details:

Outfit of the Day- Why Linen Will Never Be My Friend

I bought these linen shorts this weekend against my better judgement, but I had the thought that I wanted some work appropriate shorts and what could be better than linen when the temps are soaring. There is a reason why this is my only linen item and I realized that after some fast forming wrinkles and multiple douses of Downy Wrinkle Releaser. Linen gets a D in presentation today and I'm noting that maybe a darker color would be better next time (if there is one).

I'm not sure what I was doing, but the effect of this pic is kind of cool.

Debut of my lovely new bag

Mr. Giraffe makes an appearance at least once or twice a week.

Colorful ethnic bracelet- H&M (Vintage aka I bought it in college, lol. That's considered vintage, right?)

Outfit of the Day- Going to Work in My Bday Dress

Today is the debut of my birthday dress!! And before you think that it's my birthday, I have to confess that it was many months ago, I'm just now getting around to wearing it. I couldn't resist the print when I saw it and thought it would be perfect for a birthday dinner. However, mother nature had other plans in mind and dumped a major snow storm in our region when my birthday came around. Oh well, such is the life of this winter baby. So I say, better late than never (thanks for the dress mom, you're awesome).

Had to make sure I was work appropriate and blasting a/c ready with the cardi

My shoes have a cute little bow on at the top, but still debating what color they are.

Still working on my front kick

Okay, I'm pooped. No more pictures!

P.S. My eyes are tired, I'm ready for lights out after an evening of baby-sitting two toddlers. Never underestimate the power of Dora the Explorer, lol.

Outfit of the Day- It's Your Friendly Camp Counselor Here

I took a bunch of pictures after a long, eventful day and let's just say I wasn't too happy with them. That's why you'll be treated to just one today (be lucky it wasn't the very unflattering one where I look drunk/intoxicated. My photographer was sleeping on the job with that).
So the skirt I'm wearing today came from my after-work shopping trip to a few stores some weeks ago. I wanted a tan color skirt as a nice, neutral base to work around colorful tops, but after putting it on today, I'm not so sure about it. I feel like I'm wearing some kind of uniform, albeit a slightly nicer looking uniform, but still. Is there any way to make khakis and its cousin (tan skirts, dresses, or shorts) cool/hip/trendy?

Now I'm off to take my father out for his favorite, crab cakes. Yum! I'm salivating already at the crabby goodness.

Outfit of the Day-Sweltering in Tweed

Today's weather was expected to be in the 90's so I made the logically choice and wore some tweed. Don't worry I wasn't as hot as you might think since they were shorts. I spent a day enjoying the sun, walking what felt like 50 miles, some shopping, and devoured a cupcake. What could be better? Oh wait, an air conditioner. Someone should invent air-conditioned clothing, they would make a killing.
