OOTD-Hallowen Outfit, Nope, Oh Wait It's Just a Work Outfit

Here I am throwing up my hands in celebration of fall!!!

I put on this outfit with the thought that I don't care what I'm wearing, but I know it is going to include flat shoes for sure. My feet were protesting after wearing heels the day before, I had to oblige. To continue the comfort theme, I threw on what I consider to be my casual, tailored work pants. They have the shape and style of a regular pair of professional looking pants, but the fact that they are all cotton makes them so unbelievably easy and comfortable. Although, I looked at these pictures and thought this was a bit too masculine, I tried to maintain the girly with my new purple belt and some leopard.

Are you guys ready for some Halloween dress up fun? I have to admit, I haven't worn any kind of costume since my days of elementary school, but I'm going to a party tomorrow and need to think of something.
What are you dressing up as this year? Any simple, quick, last minute costume ideas for the procrastinator in the group?

OOTD- Twirl Fun in the Bathroom

I found this cute little dress in a consignment store over a month ago and it has been patiently waiting for its debut. I tried it on in the dressing room and had a huge grin on my face at the cute pleats that did nothing but make me want to twirl around in it nonstop. Let's not talk about how I was in the bathroom at work swinging my hips to move the bottom. It's a good thing no one saw that little performance.

Can I just take a moment to sing the praises of my new tights from Marshall's? These babies are fleece lined and made me feel so incredibly warm and cozy all day. I'm actually looking forward to wearing them in the cooler weather because I know my toes will be less inclined to fall off while walking outside. I highly recommend trying these out.

OOTD- Playing Pretend, A Day On the Beach

Sometimes the best laid plans can go not quite as you expect. Don't you hate when that happens? The plan was to head to the airport, book a ticket on the next plane leaving for a tropical island with warm weather and swaying palm trees, then hop on and get out of town. Since the money fairy forgot to deposit the money in my wallet, it didn't quite work out, so I did the next best thing. The bf and I headed out to lunch at a sushi place in the city that was recently voted best of by a local paper, but when we got there they were closed for some kind of event. Since we didn't want to wait about 2 hrs until we could get in, we headed to a local hole in the wall restaurant with some yummy fried fish and sides. I couldn't complain with a great meal in hand and the chance to pose in front of this little gem of a mural on the side of a building. I got to play pretend just for a second and imagine that those palm trees were for real.

This outfit was just a random assortment of items that I threw on because I only cared about wearing my new shoes. I scored these wedges during a recent sale from ASOS; I love me a good wedge shoe. If it makes me feel like a super tall amazon and lets me walk in comfort, then I am all for it. One other fun new addition is my humongous a** ring from F21. I got this in the mail last week and my first thought was, perhaps I should start reading the measurements on the jewelry items. Have you ever ordered something and was completely shocked at how it look when you got it?

OOTD- Cozy Sweater Weather

The start of the weekend is always welcomed by me; the chance to wear jeans, make plans, steal a tractor ; ). Although the wind almost blew me away today like Dorthy in the Wizard of Oz, I didn't mind so much since I got to put on my trench coat and sweater. I think a nice trench coat is an essential item and so easy to make you look chic no matter what you're wearing underneath. That's why I had to make this trench mine when Jean Paul Gaultier debuted his line at Target earlier this year. Although it's a 1 on a scale of 10 and Burberry being the highest, I love the extra detailing. And my sweater is love to me because of the vibrant color. I found this gem hiding in the thrift store and had to laugh at the fact that this is the piece I discovered because a year ago I found the exact same sweater/jacket at a consignment shop in black. I feel like I should give one up but how can I give up such coziness and cuteness. The question is black or blue or both?

Shh, keep this a secret!!!!

OOTD- Urkel Pants or Ankle Chic?

One thing I enjoy about the changing of the seasons is the change of colors. Lilac and sunshine yellow gives way to royal purple and mustard yellow. I'm a lover of color in my life and wardrobe, so I'm pretty willing to try on something other than standard black or purple if we are judging by what's in abundance in my closet. But, I'll probably be staying away from olive green. Not sexy going around looking sickly.

I spied these cords on J. Crew's sale section some time ago and I was intrigued by the color. A mix of brown and yellow seemed like the perfect shade to represent fall. When a coupon code popped up I took the plunge to order them. This was a major leap of faith with the color, size and fit. There was no turning back, these babies were going to be mine since they were final sale. I love the color, but I face a dilemma. Do my pants look like high-waters or do they look like the ankle pants they are supposed to be? Can I resurrect the Urkel look? Oh wait, that was never in style...

Patent leopard belt- J. Crew outlet
Rings, watch, necklace- Forever 21 (necklace available here in several colors)

Notes from the Dressing Room-Madewell with a hint of Alexa

I love the simplicity and casualness of Madewell, probably because it matches how I want to dress most of the time. With so few locations in the area, it is a treat to check out Madewell items irl, so I made it a point to visit when I had some mall time last week. Here are a few items I tried on:

Dancehall Dress in Blackberry, $158, available here

I am in love, love, love with this dress. It has a pretty print, some ruching details in the front and on the sleeves and this is definitely something that can be worn in the spring and transitioned with tights and a blazer or cardi to be worn in the fall.

Autumn Blooms Skirt in Grape, $88, available here
Ideal Tank in Plum, $18, available here
Weekend Mohair Cardigan in Blackberry, $78, available here
I saw this skirt in a magazine recently and bookmarked the page because I thought it was cute, so I was excited to see that I would have the chance to try it on. It has a fun, colorful print and drapey side pockets in the front. The elastic waist makes it great to put on when you anticipate a future food baby or need to feel extra comfortable. And what's better than having a place to store some of the Halloween candy floating around the office.  There's nothing much to complain about except I wish the price was closer to $50 than $100.
The mohair sweater was warm, not itchy and had a nice combination of colors in the print. There was a bit of the issue of the buttons pulling down the front although the sweater wasn't tight.

Close-up of skirt and dress prints

Pants went missing from website (similar vibe here and here)
Supper Club Tee in True Black, $68, available here

I'm not sure why I went for these pants since they are pleated and cotton which can end up a wrinkled mess, but they had such a warm camel color and looked perfect to throw on. They are called the City Slouch pants and are designed to be a bit baggy, but the button tabs on the side of the pants make sure they still fit somewhat and aren't too unflattering.
The top is considered a tee, but I think it had enough heft to be a really thin sweater. I absolutely loved the shoulder detail as it makes such a basic black tee look a bit more fancy. The only thing I would be worried about is whether the sequins and beads would hold up over time.

TulumTop in Baroque Red, $88, available here
Alexa Chung for Madewell Pamela High-Rise Jeans in Abrasion, $125, available here

This top reads more spring/summer than fall/winter, but I thought the print was interesting and had all kinds of colors that could be pulled and matched with outfits. It was flattering and had a touch of ruffled layers to make it a bit more fun. I gave this a thumbs up.
My store seemed to be lacking in the Alexa Chung for Madewell collaboration pieces, but there were some denim/legging items still available that I thought I would give a try. These jeans are 80's-tastic!!! There is a seam going down the middle, they are super skinny and the gray color was borderline acid wash. I was rather meh on these, but if they happen to float your boat please size up!!!!! Seriously!!! They are cut small and I was glad the sales lady mentioned this when I was flipping through the display. Prevent the muffin top ladies. Also, I am 5'4 and there was a pool of fabric at the bottom, so these would be need to be tailored unless you wear the right shoe or are several inches taller than I. In which case, lucky you; can I borrow some length, pretty please?

All in all, there were lots of nice pieces available in the store, but I only got a pair of boots that were on sale (see this post). They did had tons of wonderful new jewelry items, especially bracelets, that caught my eye. Definitely check out the website as there is a 20% off promo on select sweaters until tomorrow, if you are interested. The perfect thing to get with fall weather finally getting here around the country.

Outfit of the Day-Any Given Maxi Sunday

Another weekend comes to a close, I hope you got to have some fun. I just had a cry-fest watching My Sister's Keeper, got my hair done and enjoyed some pumpkin pancakes at breakfast with the bf. A sweet day if you ask me, especially since it included a nap. Being an adult usually means relinquishing your nap privileges, so when you can do it; it is the best. :)

According to the fashion magazines and websites out there, the maxi dress of the summer has morphed into the maxi skirt for fall. Seeing as I own all of one maxi dress, mine has to do extra duty. It would be a waste of closet space to have it sit until next summer, so I gave it a new life in the cooler weather with a cardigan. Layers are a godsend, what better way to get more mileage out of some items. Now lets see if I can give the sock and open-toe shoe look a try. My crystal ball says the outlook is hazy; perhaps that should be left to the really adventurous fashionistas out there.

Outfit Details:
Black maxi dress- Forever 21
Gray cardigan- The Limited
Black belt- J Crew
Gray wedges- Yesstyle.com
Black beaded necklace- H&M

Outfit of the Day- Tucker for Target and Me

I have always been drawn to the prints of Tucker's clothing in the store. However, the price and the fact that the styles usually don't agree with my darn broad shoulders prevented anything from joining my closet. That didn't stop me from getting excited when the Tucker for Target line finally came out and I headed out to the store and loaded up with almost everything on the rack to try on in the dressing room. Only one made the cut and I was waiting for a perfect fall day to break it out. My lovely new dress and my new ankle boots happily shared the spotlight and made such a pretty couple.

Did you score any Tucker for Target pieces or did you sit this designer collaboration out?
