All the Better To See You, My Dear!

You guys, I have a confession. I'm a closet four-eyes. I've worn glasses since that day in second grade when I could no longer see the board, but you would never know it because I wear my contacts 98% of the time. To be honest, I feel so self-conscious because my eyesight is horrible which translates into thick lenses. But regardless, I'll be sporting my frames for a little while on this here blog as I prepare my eyes for the day they have longed waited for....laser eye surgery!!!! Happy dance!!!! Angels sing and the clouds give way to light.

Let's switch things up a little bit and talk about make-up. My every day make-up routine is pretty simple: concealer, blush, simple eye shadow, tame the brows and go. I wasn't sure if I should switch things up a bit for wearing my glasses, but I was certainly inspired from these pics I came across:

So with a few tips on hand, I went from this:

Can't believe I'm showing you this, but this is me in the morning pre-makeup (under-eye luggage and all).

Adding a little bit of light and shimmer to the inner corner for bright eyes

Some liquid liner on top and pencil on bottom for eye definition

Eye shadow in purples and greens

Defining the brows

And viola, ready to go!!

Do you guys think I got the inspiration photo down? Refinery 29 created a slideshow with lots of make-up tips for ladies of the frames that I took note of and tried to use for my look. Definitely check it out here even if you don't wear glasses for some inspiration and product ideas.

So dish, what is your regular make-up routine? Do you take 2 minutes or 20 to put on your make-up everyday? What are some great make-up tips that you've picked up?

  1. I'm excited for your lasik! I was also the kid who started getting fuzzy vision in elementary school and had been wearing mostly contacts through my life. I saved and got lasik a few years ago and it was the best money spent ever - I don't think people who can see well on their own understand how it feels to be able to wake up in the morning and SEE!

  3. Aww, thank you for saying that Ina. I love my frames, but still feel weird wearing them.
I've heard many good things about Bobbie Brown cosmetics, but have never tried them for myself. I love the sound of the black mauve eyeliner. Definitely have to check it out.

  4. :) Thanks Lisa! I'm glad someone knows exactly how I'm feeling. I'm so glad that I finally have the funds set aside for this because I've waited so long to do it. I can't wait.

  5. Love your glasses! I think I need to take a trip to the optometrist. My vision isn't as good as it use to be.....

  6. Very good inspiration photo execution! I like your glasses way better than the models. Their glasses remind me of the pair I wore throughout elementary school. Ginormous!

  7. Great look! Your frames are very similar to a pair of Tory Burch frames I purchased recently. Glasses add so much character to a look.
