OOTD- Out in the Fields

The weather guy told me it was going to be warm and I thought I'd throw caution to the wind and wear white (and I received no fashion citations for not waiting until Memorial Day to break out my white clothing). Although we moved one step up in the spring category with some warmth, the cool breeze wanted to make a serious debut while taking pics.

Do you have an item in your wardrobe that you love, but don't wear very often because you know it will attract attention wherever you go? That would be, what I like to refer to as my jingle-jangle necklace for me. I love the statement it makes, but I sound like I'm ringing Santa's sleigh or something. Oh well, sometimes a girl just wants a little attention. If you start wondering why you think you hear jingle bells, it might be me around the corner.

OOTD- Pretty Pirouettes

Graceful this is not!!

On my last solo trip to NYC, I walked past the Lincoln Center and saw a huge billboard for the NYC Ballet. I instantly put it on my list of performances to see, but soon forgot about it when I got home. Thanks to them putting the show on the road, I got the opportunity to semi-drag the bf to see some wonderfully talented dancers on stage at the Kennedy Center. I took ballet in the 2nd grade and unfortunately I don't remember anything beyond the first 4 positions. I'm always amazed at the twirls and graceful leg work (especially en pointe) that ballet dancers display.

Although it might seem as if my outfit is a little early for Easter, I thought this floral dress and bright yellow cardi would be soft and feminine. Pretty much adjectives I think of when it comes to dance. My outfit definitely fit the bill, but as you can tell from the last pic, I should probably work on being a bit more graceful with the arms. It might get me one step closer to the lead in Swan Lake (minus the Black Swan crazy though).

OOTD-Moving in Stripes

Goofy face time!

Check out the skills!

Hey, I've been teleported to London!

Our office is moving and it has been a whirlwind of packing frenzy this past week. We were given the okay to wear jeans, but as you can see my outfit is just a tad bit more fancy than some of the sweatshirts and denim that's been walking around the halls. A bit overdress for the occasion maybe, but this ensemble was created while lying in bed trying to figure out an outfit that would get me to work early. Guess what!!?? Success!! I got to work about 45 minutes earlier and had time for Starbucks. Today, it was back to lateness, but we'll just blame it on the rain (and Milli Vanilli).

Have a fabu weekend!!!

OOTD-Chaplin's Tap Dance in Pink

The bf likes to call me Charlie Chaplin when I wear this hat.

I've had this outfit drawn in my Styleit (see post here) for quite some time now and despite the frigid temperatures going on, I couldn't wait to wear it. Tweed and pink are a winning combination in my book. Now if I could only find it in a Chanel blazer that will not cost me 4 figures, I'll be a happy woman. I'm not holding my breath on that one though.

What is one ultimate item you would love to have in your closet, but doubt will ever be there unless you win the lottery?

Outfit Details:
Pink turtleneck sweater- La Redoute
Tweed shorts- Rebecca Taylor (similar style in limited sizes but great price here)
Black fedora- Forever 21

OOTD- It's A Mod, Mod World

I woke up yesterday with no clue as to what I felt like wearing. Even though the weather was cold, I didn't want to sacrifice looking somewhat cute. I flipped through my Lucky book (The Lucky Guide To Mastering Any Style) and was drawn to the Mod section. It made me wish I had a pair of red pants in my wardrobe and question whether I need another skirt. But it did inspire me to finally break out this striped dress that has been sadly sitting in a bag for almost a month. I slipped on some tights and a pair of boots and I was ready to go. I felt like a pop of color was missing, so I decided a red lip should be in order (unfortunately, it was long gone by the end of the day when I took these pics). It was getting dressed in a flash at its finest.

Lucky magazine has always been one of my favorite sources for inspiration and their book is one that I love to flip through every now and then to come up with ideas for putting an outfit together.

Where do you find your best or constant source of fashion inspiration? How do you stay chic in chilly weather?

OOTD- Around the Town in Sweats

Did you all have a lovely weekend? Relaxing was the name of my game. A little bit of shopping for me, some shopping for the bf, a trip to the store for toilet paper and junk food, and we even checked out these new apartment buildings they threw up in the neighborhood. We had some low expectations given how quickly they were built, but we were surprisingly seduced by the pub room, the pool, the good amount of space, the movie theater, the gym with the rock climbing wall, the double closet in that one unit. Too bad they charge an arm and a leg . I refuse to let him work 24 hrs, just so he can be downstairs playing pool while I'm playing dress up in the walk-in closets. I told him we have to forget we ever saw it. All other places will be tough to measure up when we are ready to find a place next year.

I had a different version of this outfit in my head, but it evolved into what I'm wearing when I realized a belt and some heels weren't going to give me the somewhat just rolled out of bed vibe I wanted. Although I have never been one to wear my cupcake pajama pants out on the street, this dress lets me be a bit more presentable for venturing outside and still feel just as comfy and look a lot cuter. I added a bit o' color with my scarf and tights for keeping warm, slipped on my boots and I was done. I was easy like Sunday morning, except it was Saturday. ;)

Outfit Details:
Gray sweatshirt dress- Theory (similar here, here, and pricey but cute here)
Red scarf- Love Quotes (similar here)

Outfit of the Day-Comfort Sunday

Sometimes, I'll wind down my evening by watching Guy Fieri on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives on The Food Network and want to lick the tv when I see all of this delicious food being prepared around the country. While I was watching last week, he actually featured a soul food restaurant in D.C. and I saw some yummy goodness being dished out that I put it on my list of places to check out soon. With the cold weather hitting and my wallet taking a beating the day before, I felt that some comfort food was in serious order. So off into the city, my bf and I went and let me tell you, we will definitely be going back. Crispy fried chicken and mac and cheese that was so yummy and cheesy, mmh. So, I give Guy and Oohs & Aahs Restaurant a big thumbs up for putting that on my radar. I'm going back, but not too soon as I can easily see packing on so many pounds with frequent visits.

It was tights and boots again today because I love the combo and it is perfect for comfort and style. I sense a themed day going on here because this cozy sweater has been dying to break out of my closet for some time. I was so glad I got to wear it after it sitting for months waiting for its moment out. These small things made my mood much better, a little comfort can go a long way.

Outfit of the Day- Tight Weave

I live for dressing on the weekends, it's the opportunity to wear whatever I'm in the mood for without thinking of a dress code. The time for trying out the tights and shorts combo finally came and I must say, it was an interesting experience. I'm not sure about the tights I chose, are they a bit much? They were forced to be apart of the outfit because I got a fresh hole in a brand new pair of Gap tights (you are on my list, Gap!!!).

After spending my morning taking care of and shelling out the equivalent of really nice designer purse on my car, I was not too happy. The bf and I headed out for dinner and a movie and I dressed the part of sullen teen who loves black, not smiling, and clothing that would not be considered conservative (ah, those were the days, lol).

But as Annie said, the sun will come out tomorrow, so after a serious pouty face day, I tried to look on the bright side. That would be......oh right. My car is running better, but my wallet has been crying since the incident. :)
