OOTD-Flower Power Activated

During a recent trip to Kohl's, I was on a mission to find a t-shirt. I have a million and one tees in my closet, but lack the very basics like a simple white or simple black version. Well, a peek through the racks turned up a pair of jeans that I was more than happy to take home with me. I tried on the designer pair that inspired these way back in February (Citizens of Humanity), but didn't buy them because I can be a real cheapo when it comes to paying for designer jeans. I mean seriously, I remember when $60-75 was a big deal back in high school. And although I feel a million years behind the trend, I was really happy to have these babies spice up my denim selection. And I'm going to rock these jeans like it was the 11th grade again and I bought myself a pair of fancy designer jeans for the first time. Ah, memories!!

What is something from your youth that you just had to have and was so excited when you went out to actually buy it?

OOTD-Ms. Match-y

I pulled this orange skirt out of the closet earlier this week, but decided to wear something else. I put it in the back of my head to put together an outfit featuring it soon. So when I reached for it yesterday, I had to rack my brain trying to figure out what to wear it with and I ended up in a place I don't normally go, matchy-matchy town. How did I end up in a place often frequented by my mother, lol? With brights, pastels and neutrals all having a moment in fashion, there isn't any shortage in ways to create an outfit to your liking. Matching colors in tones, going monochromatic, colorblocking, marrying neons with neutrals; this is the perfect time to get experimental and try a little bit of everything.

What color trend have you got on board with this season?

OOTD- From Day to Night

I purchased this black dress from H and M several months ago for several reasons: A.) my closet has a serious lack of black dresses especially for work or dressy occasions, B.) it had a really great shape and C.) how could I beat getting a classy looking dress for only $35? Now this dress is cleave-tastic as you can see from the first picture when I wore it out to a dance performance and that definitely wasn't going to fly in a business setting. What's a girl to do to get more wear out of a simple dress??? I added a silk shirt with some pizazz and I loved the outcome. Button-up shirts usually read boring to me, but the sheerness and pattern of this particular number, kept this shirt on the side of right. An office scandal avoided!

Have you ever transformed a dressier piece in your closet to something work appropriate? What did you do to make that happen?

OOTD- The Right to Bear Legs

So the weather guy claimed that it would reach the 70's yesterday and I went a little crazy at the thought of any spring-like weather and banished tights from my outfit.

Is anyone else at that point where they just want Spring to arrive? I'm sure that doesn't mean much to people who might live in warmer countries or just down south or on the west coast in the U.S., but a change of seasons would be very much welcomed about now. Which is why I was probably a bit premature in breaking out these new shoes (and naked legs), but I just couldn't help it. Bright colors and sunshine just work so well together.

Whether it is warm or cold in your neighborhood, have a fabulous weekend!!

My outfit did a complete 180 this morning when I ditched the skirt I originally wanted to wear in favor of these cords that just came out of hiding from winter storage. It is so much fun getting reacquainted with the things that were put away at the arrival of summer. Oh, they will have so much fun getting to know my new purchases. Pants, met your new roommate, tee. You guys will have lots of fun this season! :)

OOTD- Just Like a Bandage

Excuse the goofy face. I don't know what I was doing in this pic, but the hair action is awesome, lol!

Thanks to winning a giveaway from Rosa of the Rosa Loves blog, I had a gift card just waiting to be used. So my honey and I headed into D.C. for a little brunch action at Co Co Sala yesterday. This is the place if you are a chocoholic! I have never had so much chocolate in one meal, but a frozen hot chocolate and chocolate covered bacon sure is one way to have a meal you won't forget.

I've always loved the look of those sexy Herve Leger bandage dresses, but tight and sexy don't usually define the look that I go for in my clothing choices. But not too long ago, I ventured into a Macy's dressing room with a BCBG knit skirt just to try on with something and ever since I've thought I should have one for myself. However, knowing I won't get a ton of wear out of it, this Forever 21 knit skirt fit the bill just fine. To keep myself straying too far from my comfort zone, I paired it with a blousy top. It had me feeling not so indecently exposed and let's just say the new skirt got a man-approved thumbs up. ;)

When was the last time you wore something out of the ordinary for you and what were you wearing?

OOTD- A Bouquet of Flowers

I spotted this blazer on ASOS's website awhile back and thought  "hmm, a flower blazer, this would definitely be different." But now that it is in my closet, I feel like I could fit right in with The Golden Girls. With quite a few years left before retiring to Florida for some shuffleboard, I've been trying to figure out ways to make it look a bit younger. I think this outfit I created was a pretty good step with bright color, pairing it with something tighter might be the way to go next time. A sexy Herve Leger bandage dress is certainly out of the question and budget, so I'm thinking a little hot pink number is in its future. Surely, not even Blanche would wear a flowy floral blazer with short shorts? Or would she??
